The referral code only goes in at sign-up. OKX’s own FAQ puts it this way: the referral relationship is confirmed only through the referral code, so enter it correctly when you register. 1. How far you need to go

Binance calls its identity verification “Verified”, and new users must complete it before depositing, trading or buying crypto. Older unverified accounts get restricted to “withdraw only”. Real stocks, bStocks and P2P are all inside this level, and most readers stop here.

Some countries or specific payment channels ask for one more step, proof of address, and the app’s Identification page tells you when. Section 4 covers when it comes up.

The upshot: for buying USDT, swapping to USDC, xStocks and derivatives, Standard is enough. For real stocks you must reach Advanced, which is one extra step for proof of address. Most readers stop at Advanced.

1. How far you need to go

OKX used to have levels one, two and three. The help centre now calls it a single “advanced identity verification”, and a personal account needs it for everything: buying and selling, deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers. There is no higher tier for ordinary users. xStocks, P2P and derivatives all sit inside this one step.

In some regions, or after a risk review, OKX may also ask for proof of address or proof of source of funds. That’s enhanced due diligence, and ordinary users rarely meet it.

1. What xStocks are

xStocks are tokenized stocks and ETFs that Backed Assets, registered in Jersey, has issued since May 2025, and Bybit lists them as trading pairs on its spot market. For every token issued, the issuer buys one share of the underlying stock and places it with an independent custodian, hence “1:1 backed”. The price tracks the real share price through market makers and arbitrage, much the way a stablecoin is pegged to the dollar.

The two tables above are this site’s source of truth: which kind of US stock each exchange sells, and where the three countries stand on each official restricted list. This section is about how to turn that into a decision.

If you just want to buy a few stocks and hold them, go to Binance or Bybit and buy real stocks. Both route your order to Alpaca, a licensed US broker, which executes it and holds the shares. You own real shares and you get dividends. OKX does not have this product yet.

1. How to read the table

This site doesn’t write promotion articles. Promotions have a half-life of days, they’re often over by the time a write-up is published, and the amounts are easy to get wrong. So there is only the table above, one row per exchange, checked monthly, with the update date at the top of the page. “Ongoing” in the end-date column means a standing scheme with no closing date. A row with a date comes down when it passes.

1. Three things before you start

First, identity verification has to be done. Bybit real stocks require advanced verification, one step beyond the standard verification for buying crypto. Binance requires completed identity verification, and on your first order you also accept the securities trading terms. If you haven’t done it, go back to the identity verification step.

Second, the money has to be USDC. Bybit real stocks take only USDC. Binance mainly uses USDC and also accepts USDT, BNB and USD1, converting at order time. What you get from P2P is usually USDT, so swap it to USDC inside the exchange with the convert feature.

1. What buying US stocks from Nigeria actually looks like

Let’s correct a common claim first: Nigerians are not locked out of US stocks. Bamboo, Trove and Risevest have been selling fractional US shares since around 2019, through SEC-registered local brokers paired with licensed US partners. You can fund them with a naira card, and you don’t need a domiciliary account. They are legal.

The problem is the dollar. The naira has fallen sharply since 2023, and banks at one point stopped international payments on naira cards altogether. They only started coming back in July 2025, with small limits. By August 2026 GTBank had raised its quarterly limit to $40,000; in May it was still $6,000. The stock apps set their own exchange rate, a notch above the official one, then charge 1% to 1.5% commission, and a withdrawal to your naira account takes a few working days after you sell. There’s also some history: in August 2021 the central bank got a court order freezing these apps’ accounts for 180 days over alleged foreign exchange violations. The court reversed it two months later, but plenty of people couldn’t touch their money in the meantime.

1. What buying US stocks from Pakistan actually looks like

Start with something many people don’t know: it is legal for Pakistanis to buy US stocks. Chapter 20 of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) foreign exchange manual says so plainly. A resident individual can remit money through an authorised bank to buy shares of companies listed abroad, up to 25,000 dollars per calendar year, holding no more than 1% of any single company, with no prior approval from the SBP. Overseas brokers such as Interactive Brokers (IBKR) also accept Pakistani residents, and the ID is your CNIC or passport.

1. Why you can’t buy US stocks in Vietnam

It isn’t a technical problem. It’s foreign exchange law. Article 5 of Decree 135/2015 is blunt: a Vietnamese individual may make indirect investments abroad in exactly one form, by joining a foreign company’s employee share plan. Open an account with a local broker and the app only lists Vietnamese shares. Try to wire money to a US broker and your bank has no legal basis to process it. In June 2026, Nguyen Thanh Ha, a lawyer at SBLAW, told Dan Tri that no regulation currently allows an individual to move money abroad on their own to buy securities. Opening an account with a foreign broker solves the technical step of placing an order. It does not make the investment legal under Vietnamese law.

The site uses Umami for visitor statistics. It records anonymous page views: which page, which country, which language and device, and which link brought you here. Location stops at country level and IP addresses aren’t stored. It also records two custom events: which exchange’s referral link you clicked, and which exchange’s referral code you copied. Those events hold three fields only, the exchange, the language and the page. Not who you are.
